What is Rags?
Rags is a webcomic created by Sydney Taylor, as part of my senior thesis project for Longwood University's GAND program. The comic details the life of an alien doctor and his daughter, learning how to survive in a merciless world in exile, with no one else to turn to but each other.
I plan on working on this comic over time, but the first chapter will perform as my senior thesis.
Cool, but who's the Doctor?
The doctor of this story is named Ratteld Avii'mald, affectionately known as Ratt or Doc... and known more infamously as the
"Man in Rags."
A man hardened by life, he has witnessed a great deal of trauma, and has not been immune to some of it himself.
The one thing he lives for now is his daughter, Kiimil, who takes after his curiosity for medicine, and begrudging acceptance to care for those less fortunate than him. Not like that's possible...
And who is Kiimil?
Kiimil Mel'aak Avii'mald is a spry, mischevious tween who is always pushing her father's limits, whether she means to or not. Despite this, he dearly loves her, and she often exposes him to the newer, more extraordinary things in life.
Despite her mother no longer being present, she still keeps her spirits up, and displays a dangerous curiosity for the very civilizations that have exiled the Avii'mald family...
